DESCRIPTION |
As early as 1698 the Adler guesthouse in the Blackforest was already known as a quiet comfortable place where guests would receive a warm welcome. Since that time many people including celebrities have stayed at the guesthouse including the famous painter Hans Thoma who celebrated the sale of his painting Im Tannenwald at the Aldler. Indeed he gave some money to the hotel so that next winter they could provide him with a heated room this can be read about in Hans Thoma's book Im Winter des Lebens p49 . The German revolution of 1848 1849 took place in the shadows of the Adler hotel. On 17 April 1848 there was a march led by Friedrich Hecker 1811 1881 from Lenzkirch to Bernau.Members of the Frankfurt parliament also sought amnesty at the Adler during the revolution. The next day the revolutionaries continued on to Prag. From 18 24 February 1987 the former German prime minister Richard von Weizsaecker stayed at the Adler. He stayed at the hotel with his wife and relaxed by cross country skiing on the Loipen and in the Bernau area. However the most important tradition as far as we are concerned is that our guests have a enjoyable stay with us and leave with a smile on their faces. Our chef will tempt you with good German cuisine international dishes and other culinary delights.
